In the priesthood, every person had a role assigned to them to keep the sanctuary of the Lord operating smoothly 24 hours a day. The Bible refers to sacred duties as positions that were entrusted to them. We call our prayer commitment the "Sacred Trust" because like the priests of old, we want to treat our commitment to help maintain God's house of prayer seriously.
"The gatekeepers had been assigned to their positions of trust... guarding the gates of the house of the Lord... Others were assigned to take care of the furnishings... Those who were musicians, heads of the Levite families, stayed in the rooms of the temple and were exempt from other duties because they were responsible for the work day and night (1 Ch. 9:22-33)."
Life is busy and it's easy to go through a whole week without stopping to encounter the Lord. You don't have to sign up for a bunch of prayer meetings to be helpful; committing to just one prayer meeting helps us to maintain what we have and continue to build. Everyone has a part to play in building the house of prayer! Would you prayerfully consider committing to one prayer meeting a week?
